Just a word about Cat Walk from a personal view-
I have met the creator and designer of Cat Walk doors and find him to
be a extremely confident person with concerns for the pet and the owner
and his honesty and integrity are as superior as his doors. This door
and the dog door could have been on the market years earlier at far less
expense and met quality that was advanced of most doors-but he selected
to keep aiming for the Ultimate pet door in safety and durability. We dont
think you will find a better made pet door or a better company. Bravo-to
Jim a five star halo person.
Technology behind the doors...
The Catwalk & Dogwalk range of doors have been design for long life and durability. The flap material was selected after consultation with Bayer of Germany and having analysed the treatment pet doors are subjected to by animals who often crash into the flaps. The polycarbonate provides a virtually unbreakable solution to this problem. However, no door is totally unbreakable but the polycarbonate provides a much better option than acrylic which is a brittle material and what most cat door flaps are made from. The hinge system on our glass fitting doors are designed to release should the animal crash into the door. This is to help prevent your animal or child who may be standing or playing in the vicinity from being cut by flying glass in the event that the glass shatters. It is an added safety feature. All of our plastic doors have UV inhibitors in the plastic, to help prevent attack from the sun UV rays. The Patented Multi-Magnetic system is rather unique. The system has a number of magnets working together and therefore requires no batteries to operate the door. Should your neighbour install the same door you can simply reverse the magnets, thereby changing the direction of the polarity of your door and simply order reverse polarity collar magnets. This will allow you to continue using your door whilst keeping the neighbours cats out.
The Upgradeable model is the only door on the market which you can purchase as a standard door and upgrade at a later date if you have neighbours cats or stray cat problems. There is no need to replace your door - simply order an upgrade kit which may be fitted by any handy man or woman in less then 7 minutes. Simply remove the cover plate on the front of the door and insert the upgrade kit, replace the cover and the operation is complete. We are not aware of any other manufacturer offering this benefit.
Selective Electronic doors: (For release 2005)
These doors will be electronically controlled. There is no need to actually train the pet to use the door. It will simply unlock as the cat approaches the electronic field then simply lock itself once the cat has passed through. Your pet simply wears a small electronic chip in his collar. The door recognises your pet's identification chip and unlocks the door latch. The door has the ability to recognise a multitude of chips which have been pre-programmed into the door. The customer may have as many pets as they wish pre-programmed into the door. In the event that your pet loses their collar the replacement collars are inexpensive to replace, unlike other products. No special programming is required simply hold the new collar up to the door for 10 to 15 seconds and the door will self programme the new collar.
Aluminium dog doors:
With the development of these doors our main goal was to provide a sturdy door with good flap sealing ability. Most of the dog doors we tested had flexible PVC flaps. These doors were subjective to severe weather conditions. Our results indicated that under warm to medium weather conditions they performed reasonably well. However, when subjected to cold and windy conditions they did not perform well at all. For example we found that at Minus 5 deg the PVC flap material became ridged and lost its flexibility. If it was windy or the dog passed through the door in cold conditions the flap would remain distorted, losing is sealing properties when they are most needed to prevent draughts and save valuable energy.
The Dogwalk doors have a woven brush seal which remains flexible even at minus 30 deg. The brush seals against the door walls at all times. The door is held shut by powerful super magnets. All doors come complete with a tough polycarbonate security panel which is inserted into channels moulded into the Aluminium profiles thereby helping to prevent intruders entering via your pet door.
We selected Aluminium for the construction of dog doors as we found that many of the plastic dog doors presently available on the market did not perform well under the treatment that many dogs give them. Aluminium is a permanent material which is well proven in the building industry and has a very good life span.
